How it works
Three steps between you and your next license
We turn a fax-and-mail maze into a clear, guided checklist you work through at your own pace.
Tell us once
Complete one smart intake — education, training, exams, work history, prior licenses. We store it securely and reuse it for every state, so you never re-enter a thing.
You prepare & submit
For each state we build a board-ready checklist — the forms to complete, attestation letters to include, and the exact verifications to request (FCVS, IMLC, primary-source checks). You submit a clean file directly to each board.
You watch it move
Every application appears in your tracker with a live status and a plain next step. Reminders keep each one moving, and the tracker flags anything a board still needs from you.
The license journey, made visible
Every application moves through the same stages. We show you exactly where each one is — and translate board-speak into a plain next step.

Time saved vs. DIY
1 of your states may qualify for the IMLC expedited pathway — often weeks faster if you hold a qualifying principal license.
Estimates are for planning only and exclude optional add-ons (FCVS profile, fingerprinting, translations). Board fees are set by each board and paid by you directly to them.
You didn't go to med school for this
The paperwork was never the point.
Licensing is a maze of duplicate forms, primary-source verifications, notarizations, and board quirks — invisible until it delays your start date or your paycheck. We built Medicense so you can navigate it in a fraction of the time — without losing another evening to it.
The old way
- Printing, signing, and faxing the same form to 50 different boards
- Re-typing your training history into every state's clunky portal
- Chasing medical schools and residencies for verifications yourself

- Missing a renewal deadline and losing the right to practice
With Medicense
- One secure intake — reused automatically across every state
- Board-ready checklists that show you exactly what to complete and submit
- A running list of which verifications to request — and reminders to follow up
- A live dashboard: status and a plain next step for each license
- Proactive renewal, DEA, and CME reminders before anything expires

“I needed licenses in eight states to start locums work. Medicense laid out exactly what each one required, so I submitted them all over a weekend and tracked every one to approval before my start date.”

Security & trust
Built for the most sensitive data a physician has
Your credentials, identity documents, and license history deserve bank-grade protection. That's the standard we hold ourselves to.
Encrypted everywhere
TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest, with field-level encryption on the most sensitive credentials like SSN and DOB.
Guarded document vault
Diplomas, ECFMG, DEA, and IDs live behind signed, expiring URLs and are encrypted at rest with managed keys.
HIPAA-grade controls
We build to HIPAA Security Rule practices, and establish BAAs with our infrastructure providers before any protected data is processed.
Full audit trail
Every action is recorded in an immutable, database-enforced audit log with role-based access — you can see who did what, and when.
Hardened by default
Rate limiting and exponential brute-force lockout on authentication, backed by a least-privilege database role that cannot alter the audit log.
Isolated by design
Strict dev/stage/prod isolation and least-privilege access, with automated backups and tested restores part of our production-readiness plan.
Questions
Everything you were about to ask
IMLC, FCVS, timelines, refunds, and data security — no jargon.
No. Medicense is a self-serve organizational and tracking tool. We do not prepare, submit, or file applications on your behalf, and we do not contact state boards, schools, FCVS, or the IMLC for you. We give you checklists, secure document storage, deadline and status tracking, and general informational guidance so you can complete and submit your own applications directly to each board. We are not a law firm, a government agency, or a state medical board, and nothing here is legal advice. Final licensing decisions rest solely with each board.
The Interstate Medical Licensure Compact is an expedited pathway that lets eligible physicians obtain licenses in participating states much faster. If you hold a qualifying State of Principal License, you can request a Letter of Qualification and use it to accelerate licenses in every compact state you choose — often by weeks. Medicense shows you whether the IMLC path fits your situation and walks you through each step, but you make the requests and submissions yourself.
The Federation Credentials Verification Service creates a permanent, primary-source-verified profile of your core credentials (medical education, exam history, and more). Many boards require or strongly prefer it, and it speeds up verification across future applications. Medicense helps you decide whether it's worth doing for your target states and shows you how to set it up — you complete it yourself.
It depends heavily on the state and how complete your file is. Fast IMLC states can issue in a few weeks; large boards like California, Texas, and New York can take several months. Our calculator gives you a realistic per-state range, and the tracker shows live progress once you're underway.
Yes — that's the point. You complete one intake, then submit to every state you choose in parallel, and your tracker keeps each one moving. Your total wait is driven by the slowest board rather than the sum of all of them.
We treat physician PII and credentials as highly sensitive. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and the most sensitive fields — like SSN and date of birth — get additional field-level encryption. Documents are stored with signed, expiring links, access is role-based and least-privilege, and every action is recorded in an immutable audit log.
No tool can guarantee board approval, and you are solely responsible for your own submissions. What Medicense can do is reduce the odds of a preventable rejection by helping you submit clean, complete, board-specific files — and if a board requests more, we flag the exact item in your tracker so you can resolve it fast.
Medicense charges for access to its guidance and tracking tools, not for filing — we never file anything for you. You can see pricing before you subscribe and cancel anytime. State board fees are paid directly to the boards and follow each board's own refund rules.
Stop faxing forms. Start practicing.
Create your account and complete one intake. We'll show you a free, itemized plan for every state you want — free to start, pay only when you're ready.
