Questions

Everything you were about to ask

IMLC, FCVS, timelines, refunds, and data security — no jargon.

No. Medicense is a self-serve organizational and tracking tool. We do not prepare, submit, or file applications on your behalf, and we do not contact state boards, schools, FCVS, or the IMLC for you. We give you checklists, secure document storage, deadline and status tracking, and general informational guidance so you can complete and submit your own applications directly to each board. We are not a law firm, a government agency, or a state medical board, and nothing here is legal advice. Final licensing decisions rest solely with each board.

The Interstate Medical Licensure Compact is an expedited pathway that lets eligible physicians obtain licenses in participating states much faster. If you hold a qualifying State of Principal License, you can request a Letter of Qualification and use it to accelerate licenses in every compact state you choose — often by weeks. Medicense shows you whether the IMLC path fits your situation and walks you through each step, but you make the requests and submissions yourself.

The Federation Credentials Verification Service creates a permanent, primary-source-verified profile of your core credentials (medical education, exam history, and more). Many boards require or strongly prefer it, and it speeds up verification across future applications. Medicense helps you decide whether it's worth doing for your target states and shows you how to set it up — you complete it yourself.

It depends heavily on the state and how complete your file is. Fast IMLC states can issue in a few weeks; large boards like California, Texas, and New York can take several months. Our calculator gives you a realistic per-state range, and the tracker shows live progress once you're underway.

Yes — that's the point. You complete one intake, then submit to every state you choose in parallel, and your tracker keeps each one moving. Your total wait is driven by the slowest board rather than the sum of all of them.

We treat physician PII and credentials as highly sensitive. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and the most sensitive fields — like SSN and date of birth — get additional field-level encryption. Documents are stored with signed, expiring links, access is role-based and least-privilege, and every action is recorded in an immutable audit log.

No tool can guarantee board approval, and you are solely responsible for your own submissions. What Medicense can do is reduce the odds of a preventable rejection by helping you submit clean, complete, board-specific files — and if a board requests more, we flag the exact item in your tracker so you can resolve it fast.

Medicense charges for access to its guidance and tracking tools, not for filing — we never file anything for you. You can see pricing before you subscribe and cancel anytime. State board fees are paid directly to the boards and follow each board's own refund rules.
